I am sure that everyone around the globe has heard of the tragedy Ottawa, and the remainder of Canada witnessed today. I for one was at work in my office surrounded by my co-workers when we heard the news. The shock, the fear gripped us all. Internal emails came in warning us to be on high alert. If notified us of the lockdown on Parliament Hill.
We all questioned - Why?
Several posts on Facebook, Twitter followed. From one extreme to the other. I could rant about mine .... In the end I will rant about one thing -
Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillois is the son, brother, friend, Canadian worker, military man (the list goes on ... ) who was brutally shot, and killed today for no reason. Senseless. He was standing guard at a memorial site for an unknown soldier.
He was standing guard. Shot. Killed. Point blank.
We then have to wonder why?
Some point to Religion.
Some say Radicals or Extremist.
Because I don't agree with you and you don't agree with me.
My hair is brown and yours is blonde.
Is this not a country of rights and freedom of speech. Does this mean you have a right to murder someone who doesn't agree with your '"plan" or "godly' vision. If so, count me out.
Some think we should remember that Canada is a welcoming group and we continue to be a refuge for those of all nations and backgrounds. That we are about peace and equal rights for all.
Again, I question this.
Equal rights for all .... did this individual (who was born a Canadian citizen) think about Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillois' rights? His right to stand guard for the unknown soldier, out of respect. His right to wear his military uniform in public, without fear of being shot, killed. I am at a loss with this ... we all have rights, but when does it end?! When do we put a stop to this criminal activity - is that not what it is? When do we say enough is enough.
I believe this world fosters good and evil. Today we seen some of it's evil ...... and we lost some of the good.
Watch over us Cpl. Nathan Cirillois. May you rest in peace amongst the angels. You will not be forgotten.
